FREQUENCY UNKNOWN

Frequency Unknown is a ghost hunting parody series. In Episode 1, paranormal investigators Nate and Shawna are called in to investigate a supposedly haunted theater, but what they uncover raises questions about whether the haunting is real or staged.

When former punk rocker and legend-in-her-own-mind Shawna teams up with self-styled skeptic and award-winning photographer (according to his own book) Nate, the evidence initially points to a genuine haunting. But as their hosts keep showing up where they shouldn’t and interfering with the investigation, Nate and Shawna begin to wonder if the theater is staging paranormal activity to boost ticket sales.

After reviewing the footage, they realize they may have acted a little too quickly by declaring a hoax.

If you enjoy paranormal investigations, haunted theaters, ghost hunting shows, and comedy-meets-horror content, this episode explores how claiming a haunting for profit can backfire… and somehow still pay off.

ABOUT FLIGHT RISK

Flight Risk Productions was created by Beth Brousil, Erik Hejnosz, and Jeremy Lamb out of a shared love of storytelling, collaboration, and making things weird.

Beth and Erik met in 2018 while taking classes at Westside Improv. They went on to perform together on improv teams and immersive murder mystery nights in Chicago’s western suburbs. Beth and Jeremy met in 2020 while perusing Bumble (some of Beth’s friends still call him Bumble Jeremy).

In September 2024 with Jeremy behind the camera, Beth as reporter Missy Coppertone, and Erik playing a douchey podcast host, they collaborated on a video to kick off The Mystery Department’s podcast-themed event for the city of Glen Ellyn.

The Mystery Department next asked them to create a trailer for a fictional romantic Christmas movie called, “A Holly Jolly Merry Mix-Up.”

Beth, Erik, and Jeremy realized that by combining their talents in front of and behind the camera that they were making content that they were super proud of.

One night while editing, Erik said, “Wouldn’t it be great if this was our job?” And Flight Risk Productions was born.

The Team

Beth Brousil

Beth is a graphic designer by trade and in 2018 started taking improv classes at Westside Improv in Wheaton, Illinois and was immediately hooked. She’s since performed in several sketches revues, nearly a dozen immersive murder mystery events for The Mystery Department, and countless improv shows at Westside Improv and The Bughouse Theater.

Flight Risk Productions brings together everything she loves about storytelling and creating.

Erik Hejnosz

Erik, whose parents named him after Erik "The Red" Thorvaldsson, started taking improv classes at Westside in 2018.  Like " Erik the Red", Erik lived abroad for sometime, but unlike Erik the Red, he stayed away from plundering and murder.  Way to go Erik!  Way to go!

JEReMY LAMB

Jeremy Lamb is a freelance videographer and photographer who, in addition to capturing improv shows around the Chicago area, has worked with Morley Pedals, Pantera, Metallica, Tye Trujillo of Suicidal Tendencies, and many more bands and performers.

He’s also been known to play possible cult leader Stone Hawkins, karate expert Doug "Iron Fist" Kirkland, and paranormal detective, Dex Mulvern for The Mystery Department.
